Schuyler County Humane Society is a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization that relies completely on private donations and its own fundraising abilities to operate. We receive no federal, state or government funding or any funds from any national animal welfare organizations. SCHS does not have ANY paid employees and relies completely on volunteers to operate.The donations collected from the adoption of each animal help to offset some of the costs involved in providing care for the animals and preparing an animal for placement into a new home.

  • The cat/kitten adoption donation is $65.00.
  • The dog/puppy adoption donation is $165.00.

What your adoption donation includes Canine and feline adoption fees include:

  • A general physical examination and behavioral evaluation
  • Canine or feline distemper combination vaccination and bordetella (canines only) Age-appropriate canines and felines also receive a rabies vaccination whenever possible
  • Deworming medication
  • Flea/tick treatment
  • Canine heartworm test or feline leukemia test / FIV test
  • Spay/neuter surgery
  • Microchip implant on both cats and dogs
  • Ears will be cleaned and treated for ear mites
